Customs Offices Nationwide to Remain Closed on Budget Day
All customs offices across the country will remain closed on Friday, 15 Jeth 2083, the day the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 is scheduled to be announced. The Department of Customs issued a circular directing that no customs clearance for goods, except for passenger clearance, be conducted on that day.
As the budget speech impacts tax management and customs clearance, the department has instructed that work on customs declaration forms registered by 14 Jeth be completed.
For any remaining declaration forms, the department stated that clearance will only proceed from 16 Jeth onward, after verifying whether the new rates revised through the Finance Bill, 2083 have been updated in the ASYCUDA system, and after collecting any applicable exemptions or additional duties based on the revised tariff rates.
