Controversial Medical Entrepreneur Durga Prasai Arrested in Nepal
Controversial medical entrepreneur and royalist activist Durga Prasai has been arrested. In response to Prasai's arrest, the Nagarik Bachau Dal (Citizen Rescue Party), which is under his patronage, has announced that it will immediately begin street protests today.
Just on Monday, during a press conference, Prasai had announced preparations for a movement to completely shut down the country on Mangsir 7. Prasai was arrested by the Nepal Police from his residence in Thimi, Bhaktapur, on charges of attempting to disrupt peace and security.
Prasai is currently being held at the District Police Range, Kathmandu's office in Bhadrakali. Prasai and his supporters had announced a movement to find an alternative to the republic and corruption starting from Kathmandu on mangsir 7.
Similarly, in protest of Prasai's arrest, the Nagarik Bachau Dal has announced that it will start its protest programs today. Leaders of the Nagarik Bachau Dal stated that they will take to the streets in protest of Prasai's arrest starting today.
According to Prem Kumar Thamsuhang, General Secretary of the Nagarik Bachau Dal, they are preparing to launch a nationwide movement starting today, without waiting for mangsir 7. He also stated that the government has disrupted peace by arresting Prasai in an "abduction-style" manner.
