Construction of Zoo in Suryabinayak to Start Soon: Minister Chaulagain

Kathmandu: Minister for Forests and Environment, Madhav Prasad Chaulagain, has announced that a zoo will soon be constructed in Suryabinayak, Bhaktapur.

Speaking at a souvenir publication and felicitation program organized on Monday by the National Trust for Nature Conservation to mark the 30th anniversary of its management of the Central Zoo, he stated that work is underway regarding the necessary processes and documentation, and the construction will be announced shortly.

He said, "We will announce the construction of the zoo in Suryabinayak, which has been stalled for 10 years, within a few weeks. We are currently discussing the procedures and documentation."

Similarly, he remarked that the 'Gen Z revolt' occurred because the country did not achieve the development expected by the people over the last 30 years. He expressed that the time required to bring about change is determined by whether one has worked with honesty.

He stated, "I know that after people did not get what they expected in our country for 30 years, the Gen Z revolt took place. How much time is sufficient for you to work and bring change? How much time do you need to bring transformation? This is determined by whether you have worked honestly or not."

Asserting that the Gen Z movement is not about a specific individual but about a mindset/tendency, he said everyone needs to perform a self-reflection.

"Let’s self-reflect for once. We all have contributed in some way or another to the occurrence of the Gen Z movement; the Gen Z movement is not about an individual, it is about a tendency. That tendency had taken hold everywhere," he said.

Furthermore, Chiribabu Maharjan, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, stated that the zoo is the pride of Lalitpur Metropolis. He expressed his commitment that the metropolis is ready to approve every proposal coming from the zoo.

He said, "The pride of Lalitpur Metropolitan City is this zoo. The space might be small, and there seems to be no possibility of expanding it, but even so, it is running very well. Whatever proposal comes from here, I will welcome it in the metropolitan office by rolling out the red carpet."
