Arjun Narsingh KC Demands Powerful Commission for Constitution Amendment
Kathmandu. Nepali Congress Member of Parliament Arjun Narsingh KC has urged the government not to limit the issue of constitution amendment solely to a government task force. Speaking during a special hour in Tuesday's meeting of the House of Representatives, MP KC pointed out the need for a broad and inclusive discussion on a sensitive matter like amending the constitution.
To make the constitution amendment process impartial and universally acceptable, MP KC demanded a powerful mechanism. He said, "The debate on constitution amendment must not remain confined to a government task force. For this, it is necessary to form a powerful, all-party commission coordinated by a former Chief Justice, including constitutional experts, political parties, administrative experts, and representatives of civil society."
Considering the country's current political complexities, global conflicts, and social polarization, he emphasized that a debate centered only around the ruling circle would not make the amendment process successful. He stressed that a 'roundtable conference' should be organized to ensure the success of the amendment.
