Nepali Congress to Hold Show of Strength in Surkhet

Surkhet: The Nepali Congress is set to demonstrate its strength in Surkhet today. According to the party, this display is aimed at the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 (Falgun 21).

Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa is arriving in Surkhet to address the election rally. This marks the party's second province-level mass meeting following the public release of its manifesto. President Thapa and Vice President Pushpa Bhusal are scheduled to address the gathering shortly at the Ghantaghar Dabali in Surkhet.

Supporters from the Karnali districts of Salyan, Rukum West, Jajarkot, Dailekh, and Kalikot are expected to arrive in Surkhet for the meeting. The Congress party believes today’s assembly will create a favorable electoral atmosphere for them in Karnali.

General Secretary KC stated that the event has been widely publicized and a large number of people are expected to participate. Vice President Bhusal reached Surkhet from Kathmandu yesterday, while President Thapa is scheduled to arrive from Sarlahi.

Surkhet is the home district of the former Acting President of the Nepali Congress, Purna Bahadur Khadka. In Surkhet Constituency No. 1, where Khadka previously contested, Bishnu Bahadur Khadka has been named the candidate.

Despite his own brother contesting the election, Purna Bahadur Khadka has not visited Surkhet for the campaign. It is reported that Khadka has been unable to join the election campaign after moving the Election Commission and the court against Thapa, who became President following a Special General Convention.
