Nepali Congress Representatives Demand Special Convention Again

Supporters of a special meeting within the Nepali Congress held a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday. They asked the party leaders to quickly call for a Special General Convention according to the party rules.

They said that the 15th General Convention cannot happen on time, so a special convention is now the only choice. They believe this meeting is necessary to make the party active and strong.

The representatives said they have asked many times for the convention to happen by November 2025. However, they accused the party leaders of being slow and not caring.

They mentioned that on 2082 Asoj, more than half of the party representatives (2,488 people) signed a request for this special meeting. They said that under the party rules, the leadership must listen when the majority asks for it. However, the leaders have not even discussed it yet.

They also pointed out that the original plan for the next big meeting has failed because the small village-level meetings did not start on time.

In the press conference, they said, "Since the 15th convention is not happening, a special convention is a must." They believe it is their legal right to have this meeting and that the leaders must follow the rules.

Finally, they asked the leaders to hold the Special General Convention on poush 27-28. They said this is not about fighting, but about making the party better and more united.
