Election Commission Opens Complaint Window for Candidates

Kathmandu - A provision has been made to lodge complaints today against candidates who have filed their nominations for the member of the House of Representatives.

According to the schedule set by the Election Commission under the first-past-the-post election system, complaints can be filed against candidates whose nomination papers have been registered. The Commission stated that after investigating the nomination papers and complaints, a final decision will be made and the list will be published by 5:00 PM on January 22 (Magh 8).

The Commission has arranged for candidates to withdraw their names on January 23 (Magh 9) between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. On the same day, the final list of candidates will be published between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, and election symbols will be provided to the candidates between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

The nomination registration program for candidates under the first-past-the-post system for the House of Representatives election has been completed enthusiastically and peacefully at the respective offices of the Chief Election Officer and Election Officer. According to the Commission, 2,925 individuals have filed their candidacies so far.

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic and peaceful completion of the nominations. The Commission noted that he expressed hope for continued cooperation from political parties and all stakeholders in the remaining election programs.

Election Commission Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut informed that 2,925 candidacies have been filed. According to him, this includes 336 female candidates and 2,589 male candidates. Additionally, the Commission stated that 85 persons with disabilities and 138 individuals from backward regions have filed their candidacies.
