C.K. Raut’s Authoritarian Style Dominating Madhesh Government – Purna Basnet
Kathmandu –
Purna Basnet, head of the publicity department of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, has accused Chief Minister and Janamat Party Chairman C.K. Raut of enforcing an authoritarian and autocratic leadership style in the operation of the Madhesh provincial government.
He remarked that pushing forward the budget discussions in the provincial assembly and passing the appropriation bill despite the sensitive issue of 35 opposition lawmakers boycotting the parliament is a clear example of Raut’s unilateral decision-making.
Basnet also expressed concern that the Janamat-led government is operating arrogantly even while facing serious allegations that the "Red Book" containing income and expenditure estimates had been altered.
Likewise, he accused Raut of supporting and delivering a verdict through social media regarding the incident where suspended Janamat Party Vice President Deepak Sah was smeared with black ink.
He stated, “Raut has been leading actions that encourage impunity. He is becoming increasingly undemocratic.”
Opposition parties have also expressed concern over Raut’s style of governance.
