Chongzhou’s Mustard Fields: A New Spring Hotspot for Food and Flowers

Kathmandu. A new and popular way to enjoy the spring foliage and flowers has begun in Chongzhou, located in Southwest China’s Sichuan Province. People here are currently enjoying meals with family and friends while sitting in the middle of mustard fields in full yellow bloom.

Tents and tables have been set up in the mustard fields of Chongzhou’s Beitou town, surrounded on all sides by attractive yellow flowers. The menu specifically includes "hotpot" made using mustard greens and other dishes prepared from mustard flowers.

Most tourists visiting the mustard fields stated that they came from far away to see the scenery and taste the new flavors. One tourist visiting the area said, "I drove for more than an hour to get here. The scenery here is truly beautiful and the hotpot is very delicious."

Yang Shangui, the manager of a hotpot restaurant there, said, "Our hotpot restaurant is becoming very popular. It is completely full, especially during weekends, in the afternoons, and evenings. We have enough tables to serve large groups." In other locations within Chongzhou, attractive cafes have also opened in the middle of the yellow mustard fields where people enjoy drinking coffee and taking photos and selfies.

Local officials have also launched new programs this year. This plan was introduced to attract tourists coming to see the giant pandas in Chengdu, located about 50 kilometers away.

New bus services have now been started between the cities. Additionally, to make the visit to the mustard fields even more interesting, "panda-themed" programs and educational experiences have also been included in this tourism tour. CCTV
