Nepali Congress Leader Chandra Bhandari Announces Candidacy for Party President
Chandra Bhandari, a leader known for his simplicity within the Nepali Congress, is set to join the race for the party presidency. Leader Bhandari has announced his intention to contest the post of party president in the 15th General Convention of the party.
In the 14th General Convention, Bhandari, who led the opposition faction within the Congress, was a candidate for Vice President from Dr. Shekhar Koirala's group. Securing 1,580 votes in the Vice Presidential race, where he finished fourth, Bhandari announced his candidacy for the party presidency on Wednesday via the social media platform Facebook.
“The curiosity of my friends, my opinion. My aspiration for the post of President in the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress is clear, and my viewpoint is equally determined,” Leader Bhandari wrote.
Leader Bhandari further stated that he is ready to move forward according to the interests of the country, the people, democracy, and the needs of the organization. He also mentioned that he must take action by respecting the suggestions of his friends, the demand of the time, and the political market.
“Where the interests of the country, the people, democracy, and the needs of the organization stand, I am ready to move forward in the necessary way, from zero to a hundred,” he wrote, adding, “We must take action by respecting the suggestions of friends, the demand of the time, and the political market.”
Along with Bhandari, General Secretary Gagan Thapa and Central Committee member Kalyan Gurung have already announced their candidacy for the presidency.
