Cabinet Expanded: Four New Ministers Appointed,CPN (UML) Expresses Dissatisfaction
Kathmandu, October 26 : Prime Minister Sushila Karki expanded the Council of Ministers today. Four new ministers have been added to the Council of Ministers, which previously had seven members, bringing the total number of members to 11.
The newly appointed ministers are Sudha Gautam as Minister of Health and Population, Ganapatilal Shrestha as Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Khagendra Sunar as Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, and Bablu Gupta as Minister of Youth and Sports. They are scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy today.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Basnet, has expressed dissatisfaction and criticized the cabinet expansion. In a post on social media, leader Basnet congratulated the newly appointed ministers but said, "However, looking at the faces added, it has become clear which direction the government is traveling."
He has alleged that this expansion has given the impression of 'strengthening the political equation to satisfy one's loyalists, rather than a balance of power.' Leader Basnet's post implies that the government expanded the cabinet to appease its loyalists.
