Bimala Ghimire Stresses Strengthening Democracy at Grassroots Level
Kathmandu. Bimala Ghimire, Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembly, stated that today's necessity is to develop, expand, and strengthen democracy, and to deliver the benefits of democracy to the grassroots level.
Expressing congratulations and best wishes to all Nepali brothers and sisters on the occasion of Parliamentary Service Day – 2082 (Sunday), she said that parliamentary practice has greatly contributed to the formation of the current political system.
She held the view that Members of Parliament (MPs), political parties, civil society, media, and the public must make a collective effort to make the Parliament even more accountable, transparent, and effective.
She stated that the Constitution is implemented, governance becomes accountable, and the people experience good governance only when the Parliament is strong, and she expressed the opinion that the dignity of the Parliament can only be re-established through the collective commitment and coordinated efforts of all parties.
