Bidhya Devi Bhandari: 'Oli Must Take Responsibility for the Suppression of the Gen-Z Movement'

Kathmandu — Former President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has stated that the then-Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli must take full responsibility for the suppression that took place during the Gen-Z movement on Bhadra 23 (September 8) and the subsequent violent incidents.

Speaking on Kantipur Television's weekly program 'Fireside,' Bhandari commented that as the head of the then-government, Oli's failure to foresee the movement and his inadequate receipt of information from the security agencies were his own weaknesses. She said, "Whoever is the Prime Minister must take responsibility for all the incidents that occur during their tenure."

In recent days, Bhandari has emerged as a strong critic of Oli. By promoting Ishwar Pokhrel for leadership, Bhandari has been exposing Oli's weak points and also stated that the then-leadership must give a clear answer regarding the suppression of the Gen-Z movement.

When asked whether Oli should testify before the high-level inquiry commission, she did not state anything explicitly but reiterated the view that "the then-leadership must provide an answer."
