Former PM Baburam Bhattarai Withdraws Candidacy from Gorkha-2
Kathmandu: Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has withdrawn his candidacy for Gorkha-2. Representing the Progressive Democratic Party, he announced the withdrawal of his candidacy during a Facebook Live session on social media.
He stated, "Instead of staying attached to a specific political party, I have reached over 70 years of age and believe the new generation should be brought forward; I was already working toward handing over the leadership of the party I nurtured to new colleagues.
Even now, based on the requests and suggestions of all my colleagues, I have decided to help while remaining outside of Parliament. I have taken the decision to withdraw my candidacy, believing it is appropriate to fulfill the role of a guardian for the country."
He also expressed his commitment to working according to the people's aspirations even while staying outside of Parliament.
