At 70, Bidur Basnet Leads Door-to-Door Campaign with Full Vigor

Udayapur – Age 70, yet full of vigor. Bidur Basnet moves with such energy that even the youth feel challenged keeping up during his door-to-door campaigns. But Basnet never slows down. Not only does he walk tirelessly, he also engages with voters with the same enthusiasm, almost as if he were a ‘veteran candidate.’

Full of experience, proactivity, and confidence, Bidur Basnet is running as the Nepali Congress candidate from Udayapur Constituency No. 1 in the upcoming House of Representatives election on Falgun 21.

A central committee member of the Nepali Congress, Basnet has previously served two terms as the district president of Udayapur Congress. Coming from a long-standing political family, he is known for his integrity and has remained beyond reproach, even from opponents.

Udayapur-1 is considered a stronghold of the Nepali Congress, historically represented by Congress leader Dr. Narayan Khadka, who has consistently won from this 
constituency.

Against this backdrop, Basnet asserts that he faces no real competition this time. “Others may enter the election, but I have no competitor,” he claims confidently, actively campaigning through door-to-door visits.

Basnet’s main agenda focuses on long-standing issues of Udayapur. “The biggest problems here are floods and landslides. I will prioritize embankment construction,” he says. 

He also pledges to play an effective role in completing the Udayapur airport project initiated by Dr. Narayan Khadka. Other key agendas include solving squatter issues, turning Udayapur into a hub for agriculture and education, and creating employment opportunities.

Regarding his party, he describes the Nepali Congress as a historically significant party that has gained new energy through fresh leadership. “After the special general convention and leadership change, a new enthusiasm has spread across the country,” Basnet says.

A blend of experience, energy, and confidence, Bidur Basnet appears ready to turn the upcoming election in Udayapur-1 into a smooth victory.
