Barshaman Pun: Prachanda Ready to Hand Over Leadership to New Generation

Kathmandu — CPN (Maoist Centre) Deputy General Secretary Barshaman Pun has said that party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" is ready to change his role and hand over organizational responsibilities to the new generation.

Speaking to journalists at the venue of the Central Committee meeting on Thursday, Pun said that Prachanda himself had proposed during the party’s general convention that leadership should be handed over to the new generation through proper rules and procedures, and that the matter would now be openly discussed.

He said, “He himself had also proposed last Shrawan, saying: ‘I will now change my role. The organizational responsibility should be taken by the new generation.

I will put forward such a proposal.’ Coincidentally, after the Gen Z movement, a new sentiment has emerged among the youth in society.”

Pun further explained, “Now, through the general convention, let’s create a system. I too will contribute as much as I can to society and the country.

I want the new generation to lead the party. For that, let’s go through a system and process. This proposal was made by him, and the party has accepted it. Now there will be an open discussion on it.”

He also mentioned that his party has taken the Gen Z movement positively.
