Election Commission Begins Transporting Ballots to Karnali Province
KATHMANDU — The Election Commission has started sending ballot papers to 10 different districts of Karnali Province. Transportation has begun for the 12 constituencies within these 10 districts where ballot printing has been completed.
According to Commission Assistant Spokesperson Prakash Neupane, ballots are being transported to constituencies in Salyan, Western Rukum, Dolpa, Mugu, Humla, Kalikot, Julma, Jajarkot, Dailekh, and Surkhet. The Commission stated that ballot printing for 124 constituencies across 58 districts has been finished, with a total of 1,57,78,000 ballot papers printed so far.
To date, printing has been completed for Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum (Western part), Salyan, Surkhet, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Doti, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Panchthar, Ilam, Tehrathum, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, Sunsari, Taplejung, and Sankhuwasabha.
Similarly, printing is finished for Solukhumbu, Khotang, Dhankuta, Baglung, Gulmi, Jhapa, Gorkha, Myagdi, Parbat, Bardaghat Susta West (Nawalparasi), Morang, Udayapur, Mustang, Lamjung, Tanahun, Syangja, Bardiya, Eastern Rukum, Dang, Banke, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Pyuthan, Rupandehi, Rolpa, Manang, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Rasuwa, and Sindhupalchok.
According to the Commission, 14,341 boxes of ballots have been packed so far. Currently, approximately 1,000 boxes are being packed daily, and between 13 to 15 lakh ballots are being printed each day.
Ballot printing for the House of Representatives election is underway at Janak Education Materials Centre Limited in Sanothimi. The Commission reported that 10,98,200 sample ballots were printed and sent to various districts in the first phase. Printing for the proportional representation system was completed on magh 13, with 2,08,30,000 ballots packed, verified, and ready for transport.
Additionally, the Commission stated that 2,03,23,000 ballots need to be printed for the first-past-the-post (direct) election system. Printing for the direct system began on the morning of magh 16.
