Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah Extends Best Wishes to PM on China Visit, Urges Reminder on Lipulekh Issue

Kathmandu, Aug 30.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) has extended his best wishes to the Prime Minister on the occasion of his official visit to China. At the same time, he has urged the Prime Minister to remind the Chinese side that the Lipulekh pass belongs to Nepal, amid India and China’s agreement to reopen trade through the route.

Posting on his official Facebook page, Shah wrote:

“Best wishes on your visit to China, Prime Minister. The agreement between India and China to resume trade through Nepal’s Lipulekh pass is an encroachment on our sovereignty. Please do not forget to remind China that it is ours. All the best — we have full trust in you.”
