Baburam Bhattarai Urges Old Parties to Reform for New Generation

Kathmandu — Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that old political parties must reform themselves to encourage the new generation in politics.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, he emphasized that alternative political campaigners should promote young leadership, adding that the traditional political parties must either reform or disappear.

He stated, “To encourage the new generation, all old parties must transform themselves. There is a saying — once established, one must either reform or perish. Therefore, even our alternative political campaigners, within their groups and parties, should make every effort to bring the new generation forward.”

Clarifying why he stepped down from leadership, Dr. Bhattarai said, “The reason I resigned was also moral. The younger generation had already knocked on the door, and now the grandchildren’s generation is stepping forward. They should be encouraged. They must lead, so I cleared the path for them.”

He also remarked that although the ‘Gen Z Movement’ caused some damage and loss, its historical and positive aspect is that it has brought the new generation into the political sphere.
