Social Activist Ashika Tamang to Contest Directly in Elections under RSP with Balen Shah
Social activist Ashika Tamang is set to contest elections under RSP. Recently, leader Balen Shah, who joined RSP, was proposed by RSP leader and Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah to become a proportional representation (PR) candidate in the upcoming elections. However, Tamang has stated that she intends to contest directly.
On Sunday, Mayor Balen Shah discussed with PR aspirants, including Tamang. After the discussion, she said, “I came after the discussion. The Mayor was also present.”
She added, “He proposed that I become a candidate under proportional representation, but I am preparing to contest directly.” Prior to discussing with Balen Shah, she had conducted a poll on her social media asking for public opinion.
As 92% of respondents suggested she contest directly, she informed Balen Shah that she was not interested in the proportional representation route.
