Ashika Tamang, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate for Dhading Constituency No. 1, has contacted the Election Officer to withdraw her candidacy. Election Officer Ekraj Adhikari informed that Tamang sent an email and made a phone call to the Election Officer's office on Friday afternoon.
"She called earlier saying she would withdraw her candidacy. She has also sent an email. Since she has already called, we have taken it as information," he said. "We have not yet made an official decision."
According to him, Tamang is preparing to visit the office in person. "She said she would come in person for verification," he added. She sent the email by filling out the form under Schedule 22 of the House of Representatives Election Act.
"As my name is included in the list of candidates, and since I no longer wish to be a candidate in said election, I hereby provide notice of the voluntary withdrawal of my name in accordance with Section 25 (1) of the House of Representatives Election Act, 2075," she wrote in the email.
