Minister of Home Affairs Addresses Nepal Police Strategic Conference

Kathmandu. Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has stated that the Gen Z movement that occurred last Bhadra, along with its related events, has had a deep impact on the Nepal Police both physically and mentally.

Addressing the Nepal Police Strategic Conference, Home Minister Aryal mentioned that these incidents have created challenges within the organization and expressed the view that the restoration of organizational capacity is necessary.

He said, "The Gen Z movement of last Bhadra and the incidents that occurred in that context have had a significant physical and mental impact on the Nepal Police. I believe that the Nepal Police Strategic Conference will be extremely useful for restoring organizational capabilities and building a capable and strong organization that can address the latest challenges in security and crime.

I also want to express my commitment that there will be high-level support and cooperation from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government of Nepal for the implementation of the conclusions of this conference in the strategies and plans of the Nepal Police."

He expressed confidence that the conference would be highly effective in building a capable and strong police organization to address the latest challenges in security and crime. He also pledged that there would be policy-level support from the Home Ministry and the Government of Nepal to implement the conclusions reached during the conference into the strategies and plans of the Nepal Police.

Similarly, Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki mentioned that the core motto of the Nepal Police is "Truth, Service, Security" and stated that police personnel must internalize this mantra.

He clarified that, according to the Constitution of Nepal, the Police Act, and prevailing laws, the Nepal Police holds the responsibility of maintaining peace, security, and order, effectively implementing the law, preventing and investigating crime, and providing accountable and professional police services while protecting human rights.

Inspector General Karki noted that as the scope of responsibility expands, public expectations toward the police are also increasing.

He said, "The core motto of the Nepal Police is Truth, Service, Security. While internalizing this mantra, police personnel are tasked by the Constitution of Nepal, the Police Act, and prevailing laws with the responsibility of maintaining peace, security, and order, effectively implementing the law, preventing and investigating crime, and providing accountable and professional police services while protecting human rights.

As wide as the scope of this responsibility is, the public expectation toward us is equally vast. With the implementation of the federal governance system, the role, responsibility, and jurisdiction of the Nepal Police are becoming even more extensive and multi-dimensional."

He added that along with the implementation of the federal system, the role, responsibility, and working area of the Nepal Police have become more comprehensive and multi-faceted.
