MP Padma Aryal Criticizes Foreign Minister's India Visit
Kathmandu. CPN-UML MP Padma Aryal has expressed dissatisfaction over the Foreign Minister's visit to India, alleging that national interest and nationalism were ignored during the visit. Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Aryal mentioned that the Foreign Minister went on a visit to India at a time when protests were taking place both inside and outside the parliament against the Prime Minister's remarks.
She stated that it was expected the visit would be fruitful in further strengthening Nepal-India relations and resolving misunderstandings between the two countries.
However, she claimed that the visit did not yield the expected results. "We had protested in the House regarding the Honorable Prime Minister's remarks. We had to discuss the budget, and realizing the responsibility of passing the budget on time, we altered our protest. The kind of statement the Prime Minister of the country made was irresponsible and harmful to the nation.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister went on a visit to the neighboring country, India. We were happy. We thought that by visiting India, he would deepen the relationship between Nepal and India. We believed it would help remove existing misunderstandings. But unfortunately, while enjoying the warm hospitality and stepping on the rolled-out carpets, he forgot nationalism," she said.
Aryal alleged that the Foreign Minister forgot nationalism while enjoying India's warm hospitality, hinting that activities against the national interest had taken place. She also mentioned that they considered the Prime Minister's remarks to be irresponsible and harmful to the nation, against which the UML had protested in parliament.
