Any Step Against the Constitution Could Lead the Country to Further Crisis: Advocate Bishnu Giri

Kathmandu – Advocate Bishnu Giri has stated that if the current crisis is resolved according to the Constitution, it will be acceptable to all. He warned that any step against the spirit and essence of the Constitution could lead the country into further disaster.

According to Giri, the parliament should immediately convene a meeting and recommend to the President to remove any obstacles.

Following this, the parliament should recommend a universally acceptable, independent, and untainted individual for the position of Prime Minister in line with the sentiments and essence of the Gen Z movement and the ongoing protests. Before recommending a name to the President, discussions should be held with Gen Z representatives to select the individual, and the President should appoint that person as Prime Minister, Giri suggested.

Giri further stated that a Prime Minister appointed in this way could announce the date for elections and recommend the dissolution of parliament.

Afterwards, a powerful constitutional body could be formed to investigate the corruption of those currently in power and their associates, prosecute them within six months to one year, and ensure accountability. If this is done, it would be acceptable to all, according to Giri.

He also mentioned that forming an interim government in accordance with the Constitution, with the inclusion and representation of Gen Z, would resolve challenges that could arise from supporters of the current Constitution. Giri warned that forming a government outside the Constitution would raise questions about the legality of all state bodies and could create an unimaginable situation.

He emphasized that the nation’s crisis is a matter of concern and responsibility for all citizens and stressed the importance of following constitutional means to successfully implement the slogans and agenda established by the protests.
