Karnali Province UML Leader Nandasinh Budha Found Guilty of Corruption
Nandasinh Budha, a leader of the Nepal Communist Party (UML) in Karnali Province, has been found guilty in a corruption case. On Wednesday, the Special Court in Kathmandu declared Budha and three others guilty of corruption.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case against Nandasinh Budha at the Special Court, Kathmandu, on Ashad 19 (mid-June), accusing him of establishing a ‘fake school’ to misappropriate government funds.
A compensation of NPR 760,000 has been imposed in the case. Along with Budha, Rabi Chandra Pajiyar, the then Chief of Dolpa District Technical Office, accountant Maniram Kurmi, and treasurer Sangita Budha of the same office were also found guilty of corruption.
The bench, led by Special Court Chief Sudarshan Dev Bhatt and members Dilliratan Shrestha and Bidur Koirala, delivered the summary verdict, finding Nandasinh and Sangita guilty. Both have been sentenced to 1.5 years in prison and fined NPR 190,000 each.
