Project to Treat and Discharge the Tukucha River Water into the Bagmati River
A wastewater treatment plant with a daily capacity of 1.5 crore liters is being constructed to clean the Tukucha River, which flows through the central part of Kathmandu, and discharge the treated water into the Bagmati River.
Not only has Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, initiated the process and given instructions to work on this, but he has also conducted an on-site inspection of the under-construction treatment plant.
The treatment plant is being built on a 2.53-hectare plot of land located on the bank of the Bagmati River in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu, and Kupandol, Lalitpur.
The water from the Tukucha River will be sent to this treatment plant, treated, and then the clean water will be discharged into the Bagmati River. Furthermore, 800 kilowatts of electricity will be generated as a by-product of the treatment plant.
