Security Tightened in Rautahat for Upcoming House of Representatives Election

Rautahat. In view of the House of Representatives member election scheduled for February March 5 (Falgun 21), security strategies have been intensified in Rautahat. Out of a total of 277 polling stations in the district, the District Security Committee has categorized 152 as "highly sensitive" and prepared a special security plan.

According to Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, Chief District Officer and Chairman of the District Security Committee, the classification of polling stations was based on geographical conditions, past incidents, and security challenges. While 152 locations are considered highly sensitive, 100 have been listed as sensitive and the remaining 25 as normal.

Chhotelal Das, chief of the District Election Office, informed that the number of polling centers in Rautahat has been maintained at 541 this time. 

According to him, there are 67 polling stations in Constituency No. 1, 73 in Constituency No. 2, 77 in Constituency No. 3, and 61 in Constituency No. 4. He stated that while there were 276 polling stations in the previous election, a new station was added in Garuda Municipality-6 this year, bringing the total to 277.

There has been a significant increase in the number of voters in Rautahat this year. While there were 415,455 voters in the 2079 BS election, 21,156 new voters have been added this time. With this, the total number of voters in the district has reached 436,611.

With election fever rising in Rautahat, which consists of 18 local levels including 2 rural municipalities and 16 municipalities, security agencies have increased patrolling and surveillance. 

Chief District Officer Bhusal mentioned that proper mobilization and coordination of security personnel are underway to conduct the voting in a fearless environment. There are four House of Representatives constituencies in Rautahat.
