Post-mortem of Ramechhap Bus Accident Victims Delayed

Ramechhap — The post-mortem of those who lost their lives in a bus accident in the Tamakoshi River at Manthali Municipality-6, Ramechhap on Tuesday has not yet taken place as of Wednesday morning.

The process has been stalled because official representatives of Purba Araniko Yatayat Pvt. Ltd., the bus operator, have not come forward for contact or discussion to address the demands of the victims' families.

"The committee members have not been in contact. If they would at least clarify what kind of support they can provide to the families of the deceased and the injured, further procedures could move forward," said Manthali Municipality Mayor Lab Shrestha.

The local administration held discussions with the relatives of the victims late Tuesday night. However, the talks ended without a resolution as locals insisted that the matter could not be settled until representatives from the transport company were present.

Due to the absence of company officials, no further discussions have taken place today either. Relatives of the deceased are left stranded in Manthali. Out of the 12 people who died in the accident, eight bodies are being kept at the post-mortem house of Manthali City Hospital, while four bodies are at Ramechhap Hospital.

The accident occurred Tuesday morning when a Purba Araniko Yatayat bus (Province 03-01-005 Kha 9975), heading from Kathmandu toward Gamnang in Okhaldhunga via Manthali, plunged into the river, killing 12 people and injuring eight others.

Among the injured, seven are undergoing treatment in Dhulikhel and Kathmandu, while the driver, who sustained minor injuries, has been taken into police custody following treatment.
