Police Warning: Public Urged Not to Buy or Sell Looted Items from Recent Protests

Kathmandu — Following the protests on September 8 and 9 (2082 Bhadra 23 and 24), government and private buildings, including banks and financial institutions, were set on fire and vandalized. It has been reported that before the arson, historical documents, papers, valuable items, weapons, and cash were looted and are now being sold or distributed in the market.
According to a press release issued by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police, investigations are ongoing in coordination with other police offices. The CIB has strongly urged the public not to buy or sell such looted goods.
The bureau further requested that if anyone has information regarding such items, they should immediately inform the nearest security agency or hand over any recovered goods.
The statement also warned that anyone found involved in buying, selling, storing, or distributing stolen or looted goods will face strict investigation and action under prevailing laws.
