Progressive Poets' Meet Organized by Prales Gandaki
Pokhara, January 3: The Progressive Writers' Association (Prales), Gandaki Province, organized a province-level poetry seminar in Pokhara on Saturday.
The program was chaired by Prof. Dr. Yadunandan Upadhyaya, the president of Prales Gandaki. During the event, eight poets from eight different districts of the province presented their progressive poems.
The participating poets were Basudev Thapa from Lamjung, Yuvraj Paudel from Tanahun, Ram Prasad Khanal from Gorkha, Ananta Aryal from Syangja, Prakash Adhikari from Myagdi, Lal Ritambhara from Baglung, Rajkumar Niranjan from Parbat, and Gita Tiwari from Kaski.
Reviewing the recited poems, writer Narayan Marasini said that the future of progressive poetry in Gandaki Province is becoming very strong.
He mentioned that the ideas raised in the poems not only represent Nepali society but also express the current desire for change. He suggested that the school of progressive poetry needs to be further strengthened.
During the program, Raghunath Adhikari, an advisor to Prales Gandaki, emphasized that poetry should touch human life. He stated that progressive poetry must raise a strong voice against the status quo and noted that the voices of the new generation of poets in the province are very promising.
Bhim Ranabhat, a central member of the Progressive Writers' Association, stressed that literature should not just be for personal pleasure but must be responsible toward society. He advised writers to be conscious of what they are writing, why they are writing, and who they are writing for.
Singer and writer Haridevi Koirala shared her happiness at being able to hear progressive poems from across the province all at once. The program was conducted by Secretary Rupindra Pravahi and began with a welcome speech by Vice-President Nirmal Sapkota.-1767461318.jpg)
