NEPSE to Open for Share Trading on Fridays
Kathmandu. The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has decided to operate share trading on Fridays moving forward. NEPSE adjusted its trading schedule after the government decided to implement public holidays on Sundays to reduce petroleum consumption.
Following the Council of Ministers' decision to keep all government offices closed on Sundays, NEPSE stated it has implemented the new schedule to protect the interests of investors and maintain market activity. A meeting of the NEPSE Board of Directors decided to open the market on Fridays to ensure five days of trading per week. Now, the market will remain closed on Sundays, while trading will regularly take place on Fridays.
Previously, in 2079, when the government implemented public holidays on both Saturdays and Sundays, NEPSE had also operated trading on Fridays. Later, when the Sunday holiday was removed, NEPSE returned to its old schedule. Under the new arrangement, the market will now remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
