Miraj Dhungana Announces New Political Party, Vows to Boycott Elections Until Key Demands are Met
KATHMANDU. Zen-Z movement activist Miraj Dhungana has announced the formation of a new political party. However, he has made it clear that the party will not participate in elections under the current electoral system until their core demands are fulfilled.
In a video posted on social media today, Dhungana stated that they have formed a 'Party Formation Negotiation Committee'.
He outlined the main demands that must be met before his party contests any election:
Directly Elected Prime Minister
Voting Rights for Nepali Citizens Living Abroad
Citizen-Level Body for Corruption Control
"We have announced to open a new political party. But that doesn't mean we go to the election on the same election system," Dhungana said in the video. "Until our demands—which are a directly elected PM, voting rights for Nepalese living in foreign, and a citizen-level body for corruption control—are met, we will not go to the election."
