'Lalibazar' in its Fifth Week: Audience's Eyes Well Up at the Mother and Daughter's Story

The Nepali film 'Lalibazar', which released on Baisakh 25, has entered its fifth week of screening starting today. Even in its fifth week, this film has secured the highest number of shows among all Nepali films currently running. It has obtained 81 shows across Nepal.

The number of shows received in the fifth week indicates that the audience remains highly attracted to the film. Furthermore, over 300,000 viewers have already watched it so far. Compared to other Nepali films released this year in 2083 B.S., 'Lalibazar' appears to be far ahead.

As the film continues to receive love from the audience, the production team is constantly meeting with viewers to gather feedback. Actor Rabindra Singh Baniya stated that just like Shatkon Arts' previous films, 'Lalibazar' has also succeeded in winning the hearts of the audience.

He said, "Realizing that this film is meant to be watched with family, audiences are now coming to the theaters with their families. Shatkon Arts' films are entertaining while carrying a social responsibility. We have found the audience, who came to watch 'Lalibazar' trusting us, leaving the theater satisfied, and that is our biggest success. We have depicted the impact of the light of education on society, which the audience has loved."

He mentioned meeting generations ranging from grandfathers to grandsons in the theaters. Shatkon Arts has previously produced successful films such as 'Talakjung vs Tulke', 'Jatra', 'Jatrai Jatra', 'Mahapurush', and 'Mahajatra'. The audience has openly praised the theme, directorial aspect, and lifelike acting of the actors in 'Lalibazar'. Most of those leaving the theater expressed that their eyes welled up and that they connected deeply with the mother's struggle.

The film stars Swastima Khadka, Rabindra Singh Baniya, Samaira Thapa, Mukunda Kumar Shrestha, Abhay Baral, Prem Pandey, Asha Paudel, Govinda Sunar, Abha Aryal, Tara Sharma, Ramesh Wadi, Saraswati Adhikari, Janaki Kathayat, Nischal Panthi, Birbal Chaudhary, Kuntal, among others. Bishal Devkota and Prasansha Subedi have made their debut through this film. Bishal is an artist working in theater, while Prasansha is popular as a Gen Z actor.

Directed and written by Yam Thapa, the screenplay and dialogues of 'Lalibazar' were jointly prepared by director Thapa and director Pradeep Bhattarai. Pradeep Bhattarai is the executive producer, while Max Dipesh Khatri and Rabindra Singh Baniya are the producers of the film.lalibazar-1780639381.jpeg
