Kathmandu Metropolitan City to Plant Bermuda Grass in Open Space South of Sainik Manch

Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City is set to plant Bermuda grass to make the open space south of Sainik Manch more accessible for public use. Currently, this area serves as a spot for youth and children to play games, and for senior citizens to rest and sunbathe.

Public programs are also held in this field from time to time. The plan to plant grass is being implemented to improve usability by addressing the issues of dust and mud that occur in the area used by the general public.

An expenditure of 27 million rupees will be incurred to carry out work on this 61,263 square meter field. The construction party selected through a bidding process has been given a deadline until the end of Mangsir 2083 BS.

According to Arjun Aryal, Senior Engineer of the Public Construction Department, the ground surface will be leveled and covered with 3 inches of fertile soil. Grass will then be planted over it. The field will feature eight rainwater harvesting pits, each 6 meters deep and 1.2 meters in diameter.

This initiative is expected to increase easy public access to open spaces, promote social interaction, improve the environment, and enhance urban beauty.
