Staff at Janakpur High Court Halt Work Over Sub-Engineer’s Murder
Janakpur: Employees at the Janakpur High Court have initiated a ‘pen down’ strike. Staff working at the High Court in Janakpur, Dhanusha, have halted work and demanded action against the criminals involved in the shooting death of Sub-Engineer Pramod Kumar Yadav in Sarlahi last Sunday night.
They have also urged the government to declare the deceased civil servant a martyr and provide appropriate compensation and relief to his family. Furthermore, they are demanding that the government provide a job to a member of the victim's family.
The employees stated that such incidents lower morale, especially at a time when staff are required to work both in the field and the office due to the upcoming elections. They have called on the state to guarantee full security for employees and ensure safety in both their professional and personal lives.
Manoj Kumar Yadav, an employee at the Janakpur High Court, said that services provided by the court were halted from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM to protest the incident and create pressure to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He warned that if those who shot and killed Yadav are not arrested and brought to justice immediately, they will be forced to launch further protests and shut down court operations across the entire country.
He added that they would wear black armbands throughout the day while working. According to him, employees in Sarlahi are also protesting today by shutting down all work.
Pramod Kumar Yadav, a 36-year-old sub-engineer originally from Khusipur Municipality-6, Siraha, was killed last Sunday night by unidentified individuals at his rented residence in Malangwa Municipality-10.
Individuals arriving on a motorcycle had called Yadav out of his room before shooting him. He sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his chest.
