Intense Preparations for Election Police Recruitment in Madhesh Province
JANAKPUR — Preparations for the House of Representatives election, scheduled for March 5, are moving forward at a rapid pace as relevant agencies intensify their efforts to ensure a smooth process.
With peace and security as the top priority, the government has initiated the recruitment of temporary election police. The process to hire a total of 133,980 personnel across the country began on January 9.
In Madhesh Province, recruitment centers have seen overwhelming crowds since the first day. According to Deputy Inspector General Govinda Thapaliya, 30,466 election police personnel will be recruited in this province alone.
The recruitment targets include 4,527 for Dhanusha, 4,222 for Saptari, 4,034 for Bara, 3,926 for Sarlahi, 3,912 for Mahottari, 3,851 for Rautahat, 3,757 for Siraha, and 2,852 for Parsa.
DIG Thapaliya informed that 17,610 individuals applied across all eight districts within the first three days, with the number of applicants increasing daily.
In Dhanusha, applications exceeded the required vacancies within the first three days, with nearly 2,000 new applicants arriving daily, the majority of whom are male.
While the number of applicants is expected to exceed the quota, only those meeting specific criteria will be selected. Candidates must pass a criminal record check, a medical exam, and a physical fitness test to be appointed.
Those selected will receive 40 days' worth of salary and allowances as determined by the Government of Nepal, along with uniforms, batons, and other necessary equipment for their duties.
