Imports via Birgunj Checkpoint Rise by 17 Percent in First Five Months of Current Fiscal Year
Birgunj (Parsa), December 23: Goods and commodities worth Rs 3 kharba 59 arba 23 crore have been imported through the Birgunj checkpoint in the first five months of the current fiscal year.
Compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, imports during this period have increased by 17 percent, or Rs 53 arba 32 crore. In the first five months of the last fiscal year, goods worth Rs 3 kharba 6 arba 1 crore were imported.
According to Birgunj Customs Office Information Officer Uday Singh Bista, revenue collection has also increased significantly along with the rise in imports during the first five months of the current fiscal year.
During this period, petroleum products worth Rs 72 arba 28 crore were imported. Similarly, iron and iron products worth Rs 31 arba 65 crore entered the country. Machinery and spare parts worth Rs 24 arba 60 crore were imported, while crude soybean oil worth Rs 22 arba 85 crore was also brought into the country.
