Kathmandu Metro Launches HPV Vaccination Campaign in Schools

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has launched a vaccination campaign against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which causes cervical cancer, targeting female students.

On Tuesday, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Health Department inaugurated the regular HPV vaccination campaign focused on school students at Padmakanya Bidyashram Secondary School in Dillibazar.

Addressing the inauguration program, Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol, mentioned that while people previously had to pay for this vaccine, it is now being provided for free in schools.

"We started this last year. Previously, people were paying for this vaccine, but now a program is underway to administer it for free in schools," she said. "We want as many young sisters as possible to benefit from this program."

Dangol also informed that the vaccination campaign is being conducted across the country in collaboration with local governments. "Today, the HPV vaccination program is being carried out with great enthusiasm in various places across the country, especially in coordination with local governments. We are conducting the vaccination program here today as well," she added.hpv-vaccine-1770715789.jpg
