Hari Budha Magar's Ascent of Seven Summits: World Record for Disability Awareness

Hari Budha Magar of Thawang, Rolpa, has set a world record by completing the ascent of the seven highest mountains in the world (Seven Summits). After completing the climb of Mount Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica, on January 6, 2026, he came directly to Nepal to share his joy.

Accompanied by his guide Mingma Sherpa and official photojournalist Abiral Rai, Budha successfully reached the summit of Mount Vinson. Hari Budha, a Nepali mountaineer with a disability, is a former Gurkha soldier.

After losing both legs in an explosion during the war in Afghanistan in 2010, he has continued to move forward, facing life and its challenges.

Under his campaign "Conquest of Dreams – 7 Summits," Budha climbed the highest peaks of all continents in the world. After climbing Mount Everest, Hari Budha had stated that his goal was to climb the peaks of all seven continents.

Under this mission, he climbed Mount Blanc (2019), Mount Kilimanjaro (2020), Mount Everest (2023), Denali (2024), Aconcagua (2025), Carstensz Pyramid/Puncak Jaya (2025), and finally Mount Vinson (2026).

Facing challenges of extreme cold, steep mountains, and difficult climbs, Budha and his team reached the highest peaks in the world using special equipment and prosthetic legs.

He stated that this success was achieved with the aim of spreading disability awareness and inspiring others to fulfill their dreams. Budha said, “If we have a dream, dedicate ourselves, and never give up, no challenge in life is impossible. I have climbed Mount Everest despite losing both legs, and today I have climbed the peaks of all seven continents.

My goal is to instill confidence in people with disabilities and spread awareness in society.” He mentioned that people with disabilities can lead successful and meaningful lives according to their abilities.
