Balen Shah Requests Political Parties or Activists not to interfere Tomorrow’s Gen Z Rally
Kathmandu, September 7 — Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah has expressed his support for the ‘Gen Z’ spontaneous rally scheduled to take place tomorrow at Maitighar Mandala.
In his Facebook post, Mayor Shah mentioned that the rally is entirely organized by Gen Z youth, all under 28 years of age, and admitted that he feels “old” in comparison. He wrote, “I am also interested in understanding their wishes, objectives, and thoughts.
I hope that no party, leader, worker, MP, influential figure, or activist uses this spontaneous rally to fulfill their own interests. I may not be allowed to participate due to age restrictions, but understanding their perspective is important, and I fully support them.”
Mayor Shah further addressed the youth in his post, writing, “Dear Gen Z, tell me what kind of country you want to see.”
The rally is being organized as a protest against corruption and the recent ban on the social media platform Facebook. Organizers have emphasized that the event is entirely spontaneous and should not be used by any political party or leader for personal agendas.
The rally will begin at 11 AM from Maitighar Mandala and is expected to proceed through key streets of Kathmandu, where participating youths will raise their voices against corruption, social injustice, and threats to digital freedom.
