Film Director Dalprasad Lingden Honored in the USA
Kathmandu – Film director Dalprasad Lingden (Dinesh Lingden) has been honored in the United States. The Federation of Indigenous Nationalities of America, an umbrella organization of Nepali indigenous communities living in the US, conferred the honor on the occasion of the 31st World Indigenous Day.
Lingden has directed several films, including Kabeli, Reet, Shanti, Adalat, Dusprayas, Payal, and Khojtalas. He had traveled to the US some time ago to receive the honor. “This recognition has encouraged me to work with even greater responsibility,” Lingden said.
Prior to the ceremony, various ethnic communities such as Limbu, Rai, Gurung, Magar, Newar, Tamang, Tharu, and Sherpa held a rally in New York City, showcasing their traditional displays. The event also featured cultural songs and dances performed by indigenous artists from Nepal, America, the Philippines, Thailand, Burma, and other countries.
The program was attended by Toran Gurung, President of the Federation of Indigenous Nationalities of America; Dadhiram Bhandari, Consul General of Nepal in New York; Kulman Ghising, campaigner of Ujyalo Nepal and former Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority; entrepreneur Keshabram Rai; and film director Suraj Subba, among others.
