Farmers Rally in Hetauda Demands Compensation for Crop Losses and Long-Term Reforms

Hetauda: Following significant damage to paddy crops due to unseasonal rainfall, a pressure-driven program organized by the National Farmers’ Network was held today in Hetauda to demand compensation and address the long-term concerns of farmers.

The program, held in Hetauda, the capital of Bagmati Province, began at School Road and concluded with a rally at Buddha Chowk.

Participating farmers raised slogans demanding immediate compensation for affected farmers and urged the government to take effective steps to resolve ongoing issues.

According to the National Farmers’ Network, unseasonal rainfall has caused substantial damage to paddy crops across the province. The organization has compiled a report on the losses and presented strong demands to the government for immediate compensation.

Additionally, the rally emphasized the need for the Land Commission to actively conduct land surveys and accelerate the distribution of red-title deeds to landless Dalits, squatters, and irregular settlers.

Farmers also pressed the government to ensure immediate payment for the outstanding milk dues from cooperative and dairy institutions.

During the program, Ram Saran Ale, Central Vice President of the All Nepal Farmers’ Federation, highlighted the government’s negligence towards its responsibility to farmers, stressing that protecting farmers’ livelihoods and production should be a top priority.

He pointed out that annual natural disasters continue to leave farmers in distress, and delays in relief distribution have made farmer protests inevitable.

Other leaders of the Farmers’ Federation, including Ekraj Upreti and Bishnu Dangal, warned that pressure campaigns would continue until farmers’ demands are fully addressed.

The rally saw enthusiastic participation from local farmers, representatives of the Farmers’ Network, and leaders of various farmer organizations.
