Strict Action Against Electricity Bill Defaulters In Biratnagar
Biratnagar — The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Biratnagar Distribution Center, has begun taking strict action against consumers who fail to pay their electricity bills within the stipulated time.
According to the Authority, electricity connections of 249 consumers who did not clear their dues up to the first four-month period of the current fiscal year have been disconnected.
According to Ram Udagar Shah, Chief of the Biratnagar Distribution Center, the total outstanding electricity dues from consumers during this period amount to NPR 34,676,551.
He informed that the Authority has prioritized the recovery of outstanding payments and has intensified regular monitoring and enforcement measures.
The NEA stated that out of the total outstanding amount, NPR 15,841,300 has been recovered from consumers through an installment-based payment system by the end of Mangsir.
The Authority has emphasized that the process of identifying defaulters and disconnecting electricity lines of consumers who fail to pay their dues will continue until the remaining amount is recovered.
Distribution Center Chief Shah said that despite repeated requests to consumers to pay their electricity bills on time, strict action had to be taken against those who ignored the notices.
He urged consumers to act responsibly, noting that timely payment would prevent the need for such disconnections.
The Nepal Electricity Authority has stressed that timely payment of electricity bills by consumers is essential to ensure smooth and uninterrupted electricity services, and has urged customers with outstanding dues to clear their payments immediately.
