“No Desire to Be Minister or MP,” Says Durga Prasai

Kathmandu, Sept 10: Political activist Durga Prasai has expressed deep gratitude towards the Gen Z generation for their decisive role in bringing change and has outlined what he believes should be the most important priorities of the new government to be formed under their leadership.
In a Facebook post, Prasai recalled the journey of his campaign that began on Falgun 1, 2079 from Mechi with the symbolic lighting of a lamp by the king’s hand, stating that the movement has now partially achieved its goals. Despite the grief and loss during the struggle, he said the fulfillment of long-held dreams has brought both tears of sorrow and joy.
Prasai stressed that the upcoming government must focus on:
Returning land and property to thousands of Nepali citizens who lost them due to exorbitant interest rates of banks, cooperatives, and microfinance institutions.
Waiving loans of up to Rs. 20 lakhs for poor Nepalis, while allowing middle-class business owners with loans above that threshold to repay within 25 years at a 5% interest rate.
Ensuring repayment to cooperative victims by taking government responsibility.
Creating an environment for over 16 million migrant Nepalis to return and rebuild their lives.
Rescuing more than 7,000 Nepalis imprisoned abroad and safely bringing them home.
Re-establishing Nepal as a Hindu kingdom with full religious freedom, based on Vedic Sanatan traditions.
He further clarified that his movement has no intention of seeking ministerial or parliamentary positions, but solely aims to ensure the fulfillment of the Nepali people’s demands.
Ending his statement, Prasai prayed to Goddess Durga that no Nepali citizen, especially the Gen Z generation, should ever again have to sacrifice their lives for future generations.
“Victory to the nation, victory to the citizens,” he concluded.
