BYD Sponsors 3rd Edition of Historic Tundikhel Teej Festival in Pokhara
Pokhara – The 3rd edition of the historic Tundikhel Teej Festival, organized to celebrate the major Nepali women’s festival of Haritalika Teej, will be held at the old Tundikhel in Ward No. 1 of Pokhara Metropolitan City. This year, electric vehicle manufacturer BYD will be the main sponsor of the festival.
Organized by the Indreni Integrated Development Center, the festival will run from 6 to 15 Bhadra 2082. The sponsorship agreement was signed by Bhanu Bhakta Adhikari, president of the organizing center, and Nirajan Khanal, head of BYD’s Pokhara branch.
Khanal announced that BYD recently opened its 20th showroom with full sales, service, and spare facilities at Buddha Chowk, Ward No. 10, Pokhara. He expressed happiness that the company could participate in the Teej festival coinciding with the opening of their new showroom.
President Adhikari highlighted the importance of corporate support for the successful organization of the festival. The event aims to preserve Tundikhel, protect traditional Nepali arts and culture, empower women, promote indigenous crafts, provide a platform for local talent, support tourism, and enhance the development of children at Indreni Academy.
The 10-day festival will feature traditional Teej song competitions, open solo dance contests, Dhinki-Jato craft competitions, and Chelo throwing contests. Daily stalls will include essential goods, agricultural products, handicrafts, banking and financial services, clothing, and restaurants, alongside performances by local and national artists.
A total of 150 business stalls and 12 restaurant stalls are set up, all of which have been booked. According to the organizing committee, the festival is expected to generate NRs. 69 lakh revenue, NRs. 64.5 lakh expenses, and NRs. 4.5 lakh savings, which will be spent on social initiatives.
