Bipin Joshi’s Mother Padma and Sister Pushpa Depart for the U.S. to Seek Global Pressure for His Release
To create international pressure for the release of Bipin Joshi, a youth from Kanchanpur who was abducted by the Palestinian militant group Hamas and has been missing for the past 24 months, his mother Padma Joshi and sister Pushpa Joshi departed for the United States on Wednesday.
Earlier, they had traveled to Israel and met directly with the concerned authorities. However, with no concrete progress achieved, they have now headed to the U.S. to appeal to the international community through the United Nations. The mother and daughter are scheduled to meet UN officials in New York, requesting immediate pressure for the safe rescue of Bipin.
Bipin Joshi, a resident of Kanchanpur, had gone to Israel in 2023 for agricultural training at Kibbutz Alumim. He was abducted during the Israel–Hamas war in Ashoj 2080 (October 2023) and his condition remains unknown to date.
Although the Government of Nepal has been making diplomatic efforts, no tangible results have been achieved so far. The family has remained active in appeals and initiatives, continuously calling for international support.
The Joshi family had earlier met with Dr. Badri KC, President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), urging him to initiate global efforts. Following this, NRNA’s Chief Executive Officer Rajendra Kumar Raut advanced the facilitation process for their stay in the U.S.
During their visit, both the NRNA International Coordination Council and the National Coordination Council USA will provide direct support. Regional Coordinator Ved Basnet, NCC USA President Bikash Upreti, ICC members Bishnu Ranamagar and Mahesh Khadka, among others, have prepared to assist and organize necessary programs for the family.
Earlier, NRNA Israel had also organized a special program expressing solidarity with the Joshi family and calling for Bipin’s release. Likewise, NRNA has planned to facilitate diplomatic efforts and discussions across several Middle Eastern countries.
