Kathmandu, Nepal — Vibhaas Basukala, President of Karkhana Samuha and Chief Executive Officer of Prime Education Group, has been named an Asia 21 Next Generation Fellow by the Asia Society. The fellowship is one of the Asia-Pacific region’s most prestigious platforms for identifying and connecting emerging leaders  committed to driving positive change.

The Asia 21 network includes a remarkable roster of alumni who have gone on to shape global policy, culture, and innovation. Among them are Taiwan’s Vice President Bi-khim Hsiao, Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Cambodian central banker Chea Serey, and former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. Basukala’s selection places him in the company of some of the most influential voices of this generation.

As a dynamic leader in Nepal’s education and social innovation sector, Basukala has played a transformative role in reimagining how young people learn and lead. At the helm of Prime Education Group, he has spearheaded initiatives to enhance academic rigor, promote holistic student development, and expand international partnerships.

In parallel, his presidency at Karkhana Samuha has championed creativity, entrepreneurship, and grassroots innovation, empowering communities to design solutions for Nepal’s evolving challenges.

The Asia 21 Fellows program, launched by the Asia Society in 2006, convenes a new class of leaders each year from across the Asia-Pacific. Through summits, cross-sector collaboration, and long-term peer engagement, the program aims to foster collective leadership that can address the region’s most pressing issues.

Basukala’s recognition marks a milestone not only for his own career but also for Nepal’s growing presence in global conversations on education, innovation, and social change.
