Weak Westerly Winds Affect Weather Across Nepal

Kathmandu — According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Nepal is currently under the influence of weak westerly winds. As a result, fog has formed over the Terai region and valleys, while generally cloudy conditions prevail in the high hilly and Himalayan areas of Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces, along with other parts of the country.

The Department stated that during the daytime today, fog will persist until midday in some parts of the Terai. The high hilly and Himalayan regions will remain generally cloudy, while the remaining hilly areas will experience partly cloudy conditions.

Meanwhile, most parts of the Terai will remain mainly clear. However, there is a possibility of light rainfall and snowfall at one or two places in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

Similarly, tonight, fog is expected to occur in some parts of the Terai, while partly cloudy conditions will continue in the high hilly and Himalayan regions.

The Department has also indicated the possibility of light rain and snowfall at one or two locations in the high hilly and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
