Thunderstorms and Rain Likely Across Nepal’s Hilly Regions

Kathmandu — Currently, Nepal is under the influence of westerly winds along with local winds. At present, the hilly and mountainous regions of the country are generally cloudy, while the remaining areas are partly cloudy. Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

During the day, the hilly and mountainous regions will remain generally cloudy, while the Terai region will experience partly cloudy conditions. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. 

Similarly, there is a chance of rainfall in some areas of the Terai region of Madhesh and Koshi provinces, as well as at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. There is also a possibility of snowfall in the high hilly and mountainous areas.

Tonight, the hilly and mountainous regions, including Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, will remain generally cloudy, while the remaining Terai regions will be partly cloudy. There is a possibility of light rain with thunder and lightning, as well as snowfall, at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
