Road Upgrade Work Underway in Umakunda Rural Municipality

Ramechhap. Umakunda Rural Municipality of Ramechhap has advanced the mid-route road connecting all wards of the rural municipality as its pride project. The rural municipality, which is connected to the mountains and is the most remote in the district, has started the upgrading work after opening the track of the 75-kilometer-long road that connects all 7 wards to the center of the rural municipality.

According to the rural municipality's sub-engineer Gajendra Karki, under the road upgrading program this year, works such as road soling, concreting, cutting, drain construction, and rolling with dust are underway. Aaron PR JV is doing the work under a contract of 25 million rupees. According to the plan to upgrade the road starting from the ward where the center of the rural municipality is located, upgrading work is being done from the center toward both Ward No. 1 and Ward No. 7.

He said that the construction company has completed more than 75 percent of the contracted work and the remaining work will also be completed within this fiscal year. "Improvement work is being done in essential places in all wards, but most of the work is being done in Ward Nos. 4, 5, and 3," Karki said. Rural Municipality Chairperson Sher Bahadur Sunuwar informed that the road has been kept as a pride project since it serves as the backbone of the rural municipality.

Sunuwar said that the road was prioritized because without it, it would take a whole day for the general public just to reach the rural municipality. Rural Municipality Vice-Chairperson Sabitri Sunuwar said that on-site monitoring and measurement of the constructed road are being carried out. She informed that the on-site monitoring and measurement work of the progress made in Ward Nos. 1 and 2 has been completed.
